This watch also benefits from the use of Luminova for improved night time visibility. Luminova operates like a light battery. After sufficient activation by sunlight or artificial light, they glow in the dark until the luminosity gradually diminishes although larger markings are often visible for the whole night. This activation and subsequent light emission process can be repeated again and again, and the material does not suffer any aging. The other advantage is that Luminova pigments are totally free of radioactivity.
The special covert matt black non reflective PVD finish is often specified in military contracts for many special forces units as well as by anti terrorist units and for various covert operations. In the PVD process the steel is not black all the way through because the color is created by a special chemical PVD plating process which is vastly superior to the painted finish used on some lower quality watches which can easily fade or rub off. This PVD process means that the color of the steel is altered at a molecular level, therefore it will not deteriorate even during heavy usage although it can be destroyed if the case is badly damaged by a piece of metal being gouged out or if the case is worn down by really heavy abrasion against rocks or something similar.
Our G10 is one of our most tried and tested G10 models and in its earlier variants has been in service for over 30 years. A large number of serving military have evaluated this model and its predecessors over lengthly periods in a wide variety of deployments and all reports have been very favourable. If you are looking for a solid black stainless steel military watch this would be an ideal choice. One factor which greatly contributes to this is the screw down locking crown which provides a high degree of protection when compared to watches with more vulnerable push in crowns.
The G10 is supplied with a Black 20mm NATO webbing strap. The back of the case bears various contract markings and each watch is serial numbered.
